Depending on the political party and the ward you belong to your meetings can be twice a week or once a week. It is very important to meet up with the attendees, especially on weekends. In Nigeria, it is possible to join politics or become a politician without having money.

However, there will be times you will need to do some contributions with your party members to achieve an aim. Participating in these contributions will go a long way in making you a party leader.

3. Accept Responsibilities and Tasks

As time goes by on your journey to get a political post in Nigeria you can also accept responsibilities from your ward or seek to be voted in those seats. Even if you do not win you will be recognized for trying. Responsibility like becoming a secretary in your ward can be demanding.

However, the recognition is a starting ground to become a local government chairman, governor, or president in Nigeria.

4. Seek a Political Mentor

Political mentors are very important if you want to become a successful politician in Nigeria. They help you financially and otherwise to attain any seats in government. All you need is to look for the perfect mentor that suits you and is willing to support you in every way.

Unlike the old days when you need to connect people and followers only through newspapers, television, and radio. Today, you can build followership on social media with consistency – tackling challenges that surround Nigeria generally. Twitter is the best social media in Nigeria to build followers easily as a politician.

However, creating a Facebook page can also go a long way. If you cannot manage your social media accounts yourself you can hire a social media manager to help you out.

All you need is to send pictures and status of current happenings in your community and your social media manager will take it up from there. He or she will also respond to comments and questions on your behalf.

7. Join your Party Campaigns

The election period is when your party needs you the most. They want you to be able to gain votes for them freely. This shows solidarity. You need to be present during times like this and be active.
