The Ultimate Prayer God Wants From You

For quite some time now, I’ve been led to talk on this topic or rather to bring to our notice the word “prayer”. I know prayer is relative but this part of prayer is not relative as far as the Christian journey is concerned.

Right from our young age our parents thought us how to pray and always remind us of how important it(prayer) is and some of us who didn’t have parents learned the importance of prayer from the church.

There so many passages in the bible that talks about prayer, some part saying the same thing although the words might be different other part saying different things. I like to make this clear THE BIBLE IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF CONFUSION. It is only when you read the bible without guidance of the holy spirit you misinterpret what it’s saying.

The bible is not just some storybook you can read with pure knowledge and understand. To read and understand bible scriptures, you need to wisdom.

Watch out,

Be careful of people especially some so-called men of God who quote the Bible to suit their own purposes. Be careful of what you listen to most especially from the alters ( people tend to believe and accept anything from the alter because they believe anything coming from the alter is from God.) outside your church.

Ask for wisdom from God and read your bible, don’t just read. Try to understand what the scripture is saying “when you are full, nobody will feed you junks”.

Since the day I started praying according to God’s plan, my life changed. This didn’t just happen do me. It was a gradual renewing of the mind.

But before all this I only believed one chapter in the bible when it comes to prayer that says “ask and it shall be given unto you, knock and it shall be opened and so on, you know the end.

Don’t blame me, that’s how I was thought to pray. I was told God won’t give me anything until I ask. So I always ask and each time I ask and I’m not given I felt disappointed and angry.

I keep on telling myself “but I asked”, “I told him to do this for me,” assuming I didn’t tell him it would have been a different case but I did. Why is he doing this to me? I thought he loved me. Yes, I normally say I thought he loved me because i was not sure he loved me. Besides, how would I know? I don’t know his mind, I just ask and don’t care about his thoughts.

This is where most of us get it wrong, we think it’s about asking and his (God) job is to listen. Nothing else, nothing more, no strings attached.

What we seem to forget is that prayer is establishing a relationship with God. Each time you pray you are trying to relate with God.

This is not a one-way channel. His (God) duty is not to listen alone, remember he his the author and finisher of our faith, and your duty is not to ask alone. One of my pastors used to say “you have not prayed until you hear something from God”

So what does asking do? Asking makes you pray without getting God’s reply. Prayer like “God, I need a car”. “Please God, let her say yes!” “God, I need that job” are asking without listening. Have you ever bothered to hear God’s reply on all these request you required for?

What if that’s not what he wants for you? What if that car you’re asking for is going to take your life? What if that yes you’re waiting for is not the marriage he wanted for you. What if that job you’re asking for is not the job God wants for you. What if, what if, what if…

Let’s talk about about communication.

According to what we were thought in school communication is a two-way thing right? In fact, communication is not complete until the receiver understands and accept the message your trying to pass forward.

In order for communication to be understood, there must be some sort of reply from the person you’re trying to communicate with. In Christendom, it is said prayer is the only tool we use to communicate with God. If this applies to you, why are you just asking? And caring less for the reply.

Please, can you stop being selfish and self-centered? Yeah, because all this asking means only one thing. YOU ARE SELFISH. God knows everything about you that you’ll ever dream of. Stop cancelling all God want you to do through your selfish prayer.

I know it’s human. Even Jesus almost fell for this when he was on earth. I won’t say he was enjoying earth that’s why he was scared of dying. He was not scared of dying, actually he was scared of the cross. Going through all that pain all in the name of one goal.

Meanwhile, his agreement with God was to do all this. So if this could happen to Jesus, it can happen to us to 10 times more.

Here we go again, asking for unrealistic things. “I want a mansion”, “God, I want a tall, rich and handsome man”, “my God, I want a Bugatti”. All unrealistic things.

They are only real when God tells you to ask for anything you want. God told Solomon do ask for anything, he asked for wisdom. Rather than asking for unrealistic things, ask for things that will bring them into reality. Pray (communicate) with God.

You want wealth? Pray for wisdom to make wealth. After all, when he gives you wealth you’re gonna need wisdom to maintain it right?

Remember what I said about communication? Please talk to God, commune with him. Don’t just ask for what you want, ask for what he wants you to do. In fact, your number one thing is to ask for what he wants you to do.

I have never seen anyone do what God asked him to do and regret it. It might look tough (what he asked you to do) that you might think that this is not what asked me to do but in the end, you’re gonna be grateful you did it. Talk and let him(God) talk but don’t dialog, doing that won’t pay as that means that doing the same thing. Making the prayer to suit you.

When Jesus was asked how we should pray. He said this;

Matthew 6:9-13 New International Version (NIV)

“This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come, 10

your will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread. 11

And forgive us our debts, 12

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, 13 [ a ]

but deliver us from the evil one.

Mark the word “your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”. The prayer of God’s will is what we should always ask for when we pray. This is another one.

Psalm 143:10,

Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

The will of God should be the ultimate prayer in all that we want from God. This is what I want but is that what he wants me to do? Start doing this and your life will change for good.

That’s how mine changed.
